Miss Albany

    Rebecca Carr, a 20 year old who attends Darton College, was crowned
Miss Albany 2001 on Saturday, November 4. She is a vocalist and sang "In His Eyes"
for her talent. Her Platform is GOALS: Sexual Abstinence Awareness. Rebecca
won Swimsuit and Talent. She received a 2 year Darton Foundation Scholarship
as well as a $2100.00 Cash Scholarship.
   1st Runner-Up: Ava O'Neal
   2nd Runner-Up: Cami Grebel
   3rd Runner-Up: Amanda Goodson

   Kelley Bradshaw was crowned Junior Miss Albany
           1st Runner-Up: Kim Perez

Brea's mother's name is Sue Vaughan and she has a brother named Jason who is 25 years old. She is attending Columbus State University working on receiving a Master's in Public Administration. Her platform is "Arts for Excellence".

Miss Atlanta
We are very proud of our Miss Atlanta, Jackie Jauregui. Jackie just received
recognition from the Georgia Executive Women's Network which included a
$1,500.00 scholarship. This scholarship was presented by none other than
Heather Whitestone,  former Miss America.
Jackie stepped right into title and is already booked for appearances within
public schools, judging pageants and entertaining at local fundraisers.

Miss Augusta

Goldei Baysa was crowned Miss Augusta 2001 Saturday, August 12. She is
a pianist.

Miss Central Georgia

April Dorsey was crowned Miss Central Georgia 2001 Saturday, October 21.
Her talent was vocal. She sang "At Last".

   3rd Runner-Up: Heather Tolliver, also swimsuit winner

Miss Cobb County

Jana Mathena, a 20 year old Southern Methodist University student was crowned
Miss Cobb County on August 12. Jana sang O Mio Babbino Caro for her talent. Her platform is "Random Acts of Kindness". She was also talent winner.
    1st runner-up: Ashley Huff's  talent was a Polynesian Dance.
     Ashley also won Miss Congeniality and the Physical Fitness Award.
    2nd runner-up: Autumn Guzzardi
    3rd runner-up: Kandice Pelletier
    4th runner-up: Stephanie Bledsoe

Miss Conyers Cherry-Blossom
Miss Conyers Cherry-Blossom had their pageant on Saturday, November 4.
Miss Conyers Cherry-Blossom 2001 - Jennifer Ford
    Jennifer a graduate of Belmont (TN) and now a graduate student at UGA
The Miss Conyers Cherry-Blossom  gave just over $3500 in scholarships!
A $1000 more than last year!

Miss DeKalb County

The new Miss DeKalb County 2001 is Lani Hancock from Savannah.  Lani also was the receipient of the interview and talent awards.
   First Runner up was Stephanie Bledsoe who was also awarded the swimsuit award;  
   Kayann Hayden was 2nd Runner up
   Area Walton was 3rd Runner up
   Carrie Beth Spivey was 4th Runner up as well as the "Spirit of DeKalb Winner".  
  Celentria Adams won "People's Choice".

Lani Hancock - 22 years old
Education - Graduate of Georgia Southern University with a degree in Public
Relations / Plans to pursue her MBA at Georgia State University in the Fall

Other news from DeKalb County:


    Artist/Songwriter, TERESA WADE to sing GA ON MY MIND at the NAPA 500 on
November 19th.  Teresa, a former Miss DeKalb County, is on her way to
becoming the next country music sensation, with a unique blend of country,
blues, and southern rock in her music.  As a staff songwriter in Nashville
for CDB Music (Charlie Daniels Band), she is a stunning package
of total talent.  Ed Clark, President and GM of the Atlanta Motor Speedway is a
big fan, "Teresa knows what she wants to do, and has the talent and tenacity
to make it all happen."
    Growing up in Stone Mountain, GA, her grandfather was a sculptor on the Stone Mountain Memorial Carving, and she is a graduate of the University of Georgia.  
At one time Teresa was a "hired hand", in NASCAR executive hospitality, and now
uses her talents to support NASCAR charities and other events. TERESA WADE
is a true "GA Peach", a NASCAR fan,  and couldn't be more proud to sing her state song, returning to AMS, where her Dad brought her as a little blonde, blue eyed girl, to see her very first race. NAPA 500, November 19, 2000, 1pm on ESPN.

11/14: Miss DeKalb County 2001, Lani Hancock will be leading the celebration
in the Welcoming of Santa Claus to NOrth DeKalb Mall on Thursday, November
15th from 5:00--8:00.
     Lani has also been invited to perform at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center in
Atlanta as part of the Christmas entertainment on the evening of December 7th.
Callansolde is a historical landsite in the Atlanta area.

Miss Emanuel County

Jessica Black was crowned  Miss Emanuel County 2001 on Saturday, August 12th.
Jessica  is 17 years old and will graduate from Swainsboro High
School in May.  She sang for her talent. Her platform is "Y.E.S.  -- Youth Education of
Senior Citizens."  She is active with the nursing homes in this area and works to get
her civic and school clubs involved in visiting and working with senior citizens.  

Miss Greater Southwest Georgia

Emily Elizabeth Loftiss, a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of Alabama, was
crowned Miss Greater Southwest Georgia on August 5 in Albany.
Her talent was a character jazz dance to  "Sweet Georgia Brown."
 Her platform is entitled "A Time To Dance", which she has implemented at the
Thomasville Boys and Girls Club and has fully staffed  it with volunteers during the
school year while she is away at school.  She implemented this program in the
Tuscaloosa area a year ago before she even thought about being in the Miss America
system. She was the First Runner-Up in this year's Miss Thomasville Pageant. (By the
way, Emily was a double preliminary winner at Greater Southwest-swimsuit and
Emily's birthday is August 28th.

First runner-up was Cami Grebel of Leesburg and Raina Hodges of Pelham was
second runner-up.

Miss Greater Thomaston

Jennifer Browning was crowned Miss Greater Thomaston Saturday, October 21.
  Jennifer is a senior at Upson-Lee High School in Thomaston. She won swimsuit
  and talent.
  1st Runner-Up: Anna Nosset

Needed: 1000 pair of dance shoes. Emily Loftiss, Miss Greater Southwest 2001.
is collecting these shoes to donate to the Boys and Girls Clubs all over the state of
Georgia, especially those that are implementing her program.  
   Emily spoke at the GBoys and Girls Club convention in Callaway Gardens and as a
result, Roberta, GA applied for a grant implementing her program and received the
grant.  She also met with representatives in Camilla and it looks as if her program will
be implemented there. Information has been provided to the Boys and Girls Club in
Albany, hopefully they will implement her program also.
    On Saturday, November 11, Emily performed at the Miss Macon Pageant.
In December she will make several appearances around South GA to include donating
her time with "Toys for Tots" in Albany. Anyone wanting to donate a bicycle, please

Miss Gwinnett County
Kelly Wells was crowned Miss Gwinnett County 2001 Saturday, Sept. 16. Kelly is a
Senior at Georgia State University. Her talent is clogging; her platform is "Kelly's Kids--Special Needs Kids". Kelly also won swimsuit and talent.
    1st Runner-Up: Meredith Davis
    2nd Runner-Up: Rebekah Green
    3rd Runner-Up: Jaletta Long

Miss Henry County

Miss Henry County 2001 was crowned Saturday night the 19th - Pam Kennedy
was on hand to help with the crowning!
Our new queen is 17 year old Rachael Nama. She is a senior at Eagle's
Landing High School, with plans to attend UGA next fall.
She was the swimsuit winner as well.  Her talent was a dramatic
interpretation of a self-written essay called America.

First runner up was 19 year old Alexis Lundy who won the talent award.
Second runner up was 18 year old Lyndsey Mills and Third runner up was 17
year old Brandi Babb.

We had our largest crowd ever on hand for the program.  We were thrilled to
have Pam Carter, John and Martha Donaldson, Sue Vaughn, Greg Woodlief and
numerous franchises on hand, including virtually the entire Atlanta crowd-
huge support for Pam - who by the way was wonderful!

The highlight of the evening was our outgoing queen's vocal rendition of
"Unchained Melody" left our entire franchise asking why did she not sing at
this past year's Miss GA - And speaking of Sonja Perryman, she departs this
week for New York University where she will be a freshman studying dramatic
performance - Sue Vaughn told her to look Brea up while she was there -
Hopefully she will pursue participation in one of the locals in NY! Both of
those girls would be excellent contestants in the Miss NY Program!

Miss Macon

Jantina Virgil, a music major at Wesleyan College, was crowned Miss Macon 2001
on Saturday, November 11.
    It was the best pageant we have had in a good while. Large audience, 10 Miss
Contestants and 19 Teen Miss Contestants.

Miss Magnolia Midlands

Deidre Hadden, Miss Magnolia Midlands,  won one of the 5 local True Value Jimmy
Dean Country Music Showdown competitions in the state of Georgia. The winners of
each of the 5 competitions will go on to the state level competition which will
be held at the Perry fair opening for Loretta Lynn Thursday October 12 th. The
winner of this competition will win $1000.00 cash and a spot in the regional
contest to represent the state of Georgia. The winner there will go on to the
Nationals to compete for $50,000.00 and a recording contract.  There are only 6
competitors at the National Level.

Miss Mall of Georgia
Christine Zimmerman is  Miss Mall of Georgia 2001!
   Christine was crowned Saturday, September 9, 2000.
1st Runner-up: Sara Yankus
2nd Runner-up: Kelly Wells
3rd Runner-up: April Brooks

Miss Northeast Georgia

  The Miss Northeast Georiga pageant is scheduled for NOVEMBER 18, 2000
at 7:00 p.m. at the CULTURAL ARTS CENTER in COMMERCE, GA.
They have 24 contestants, and Andrea Krahn Martin will emcee and
YOLANDA DAVIS, our current Miss Northeast,  will be featured. The Dynamite
Dolls Competition Dance Team will also perform.

Miss Savannah

The new Miss Savannah is Erin Kennedy.  
1st Runner-Up is Laura Moreland

3rd  Runner-Up is Holly Tydings
4th  Runner-Up is April Dorsey
   $5,000 was awarded to our 12 Miss contestants.  
Each contestant received at least a $100 scholarship and crown pin.        
Erin sang "I Dreamed a Dream" and won talent.
She has been in Miss Savannah 4 times and she has definitely excited about
 promoting her platform---Rape and Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness

Miss Southeast Georgia

     Susan Brown, of Thomaston, is the new Miss Southeast Georgia. She was crowned Saturday, August 12. She also won swimsuit. Susan is 22 years old and will graduate from UGA in December.  She did a tap routineto "Dr. Jazz" for her talent, and her platform is the importance of a healthy heart.
  Angela McCall was 1st Runner-Up. She sang "I Have Dreamed".
  Beth Brinson, present Miss Savannah,  was 2nd Runner-Up. She also won Talent.

Miss Tattnall County & Junior Miss Tattnall County

Paige Armstrong was crowned Miss Tattnall County 20001, Saturday 8/19 in
Glennville, GA. She is a 17 year old senior attending Pinewood Christian Academy.
 Paige did a Lyrical dance for her talent. She also won Talent and
      1st runner-up: Tiffany Kicklighter
     2nd runner-up: Heather Leone

The new Junior Miss Tattnall County is 14 year old Angela Varnadoe.  Her talent was
a jazz/lyrical/acrobatic dance.

Osjha did a wonderful job as Emcee as always!
The audience, especially one of the judges (yours truly) was "awed" by a visit from Elvis!

Miss Thomasville

Christina Powell was crowned the new Miss Thomasville on Saturday, July 22.  She is a 19 year old junior at the University of Georgia where she is a Broadcast Journalism major.  Her platform is Building Character through the Arts.  She is a Tap Dancer.

       A  great big salute and round of applause  for the Scholarship money the Miss Thomasville Pageant gave away. They increased their scholarship from $12,000 to $31,000 this year! Thomasville College also promised that if a winner did not choose to attend  their college the next winner would receive the scholarship money! Thanks  Miss Thomasville Franchise and Thomas University!

Miss Troup County

  Tessa Matthews, the current Miss Troup County, was selected as the state winner for Volunteer of the Year for NAMI GA.(National Alliance for the Mentally Ill). Congratulations, Tessa!

Miss University of Georgia

   Katie Freeman, Miss UGA, recently emceed the Miss Hart County High School Pageant
in Hartwell GA. She is also making appearances in local schools this week in conjunction with the "National Book Week".
  We have had 45 women enter our 2001 Miss University of Georgia Pageant, which  will be held on January 27, 2001. If they all remain in the pageant it will be one of the largest we have attempted to hold in one evening.

Miss Valdosta

The first Miss Valdosta, Caroline Benton, was crowned Saturday, October 21.
Caroline's talent is a vocal performance "Falling". She is a 21 year old senior at
Valdosta State University.  Her parents are David and Nancy Mcknew.  

Miss Warner Robins

Brandy Brooks is Miss Warner Robins 2001.  She was 2nd runner up last year
and is a sophomore at Valdosta State University.  Her college major is
Theatre and she does a TERRIFIC comedy monologue
